Anthrax: Bush to return full time?

Following the strange and confusing departure of new vocalist Dan Nelson (was he fired or did he quit?), Anthrax are to ask John Bush to rejoin full time as vocalist.

John returned to the Anthrax fold recently to play the Sonisphere festival with his former bandmates as they didn’t want to have to pull out of the gig due to Nelson’s departure.

According to Charlie Benante, Anthrax's drummer, the chemistry was fantastic and now they are seeking to talk Bush into returning permanently.

John was asked to leave back in 2005 so the band could tour with their classic era singer Joey Bellandonna. While the tour was a hit, no new material emerged until Belladonna was replaced with Nelson.

Now the band seem to be backtracking and want Bush back. John Bush is also the long-term front man of classic metal act Armoured Saint, but is mostly known now as Anthrax's vocalist following albums such as The Sound of White Noise and We've Come For You All.

My opinion? He should come back, but the band need to concentrate more on his contribution in future and not do away with him like before. He has an incredible voice that should really be appreciated.

R.I.P. Midnight: Former Crimson Glory vocalist passes away

The metal world has been saddened by the loss of Midnight, former vocalist for the enigmatic Crimson Glory. Midnight, whose real name was John MacDonald Jr, passed away from liver and kidney failure, surrounded by friends, family and bandmates. He was 47. Midnight leaves behind him a legacy that includes two of the most influential progressive metal albums of the 1980s, namely the debut self titled Crimson Glory album and its incredible follow up, 'Transcendence.'

The man's amazing voice was remarkably emotive and powerful, as well as boasting one of the most striking ranges that has ever been heard in the metal scene. While the third album, 1991's 'Strange and Beautiful' was a different beast altogether in the face of changing trends, there are still some amazing performances from Midnight. He also rejoined Crimson Glory in 2005 before parting ways with the band once again in 2007. There is no denying he was a troubled individual, but he was also an incredible artist who will be sorely missed by friends and family the world over. Rest in peace, Midnight.

Crimson Glory were known in the early days for their striking image with the silver masks, their clean, powerful music and the awesome power of Midnight's voice. Check them out below...

SIRENIA: THE 13TH FLOOR album review

After the rather monumental 'Nine Destinies and a Downfall', goth metal rising stars SIRENIA were again faced with finding a singer. Monica Pederson had left, the band were without a vocalist once again, but they never thought of quitting. Theylre back again with more huge riffs and more huge choruses, now fronted by the delectable Ailyn, the band have bounced back with what is possibly their best album yet.

While 'The 13th Floor' is slightlyu more gentle than their previous CD, it is no less powerful. Ailyn's voice is softer than Monika's had eben, and it suits the songs perfectly here. Standour track is most definitely the glorious opener, 'The Path To Decay', but the whole album is strong. As a follow-up to 'Nine Destinies...' it works extremely well, and those fans who thoyught that album could not be topped are in for a treat here. All of the elements that made Sirenia special in the first place are here, just m,ore refined, more focussed. A rare work of beauty and power.

IN THIS MOMENT- 'The Dream' album review

The hotly anticipated second album from In This Moment has finally arrived, and have they fallen prey to second album syndrome? to a certain extent, yes. Fans of the metalcore elements of their debut are going to be rather disappointed with this CD, but if you enjoyed the more melodic aspects of 'Beautiful Tragedy' then you're in for a treat. 'The Dream' is a hard edged pop rock album that sees the band going in a much more commercial direction. The pop-punk chorus of 'Forever' (see video below) is ridiculously infectious, and the whole album is memorable, if nowhere near as heavy as the first one, which is a shame. Maria Brink's voice is put through less of a workout this time round, so those that didn't get along with her piercing screams before will find more to enjoy here.

MOTORHEAD- LEMMY ACTION FIGURE

You need this in your life. Why? Because you do. Trust me. The Lemmy action figure was released in July and has been delighting fans with its likeness to the man himself- including his famous warts. The Lemmy Kiliminster action figure, made by Loco Ape and officially licensed by Motorhead, is supplied with his infamous Rickenbacker bass and raised mic stand. Lemmy comes with a display base in a Motorhead-themed blister card pack. The figure stands approximately 7 inches tall and is articulated at the shoulders, elbows and waist. He looks great, well, as great as Lemmy *can* look anyway..

STRAY- 'ABUSE BY PROXY' REVIEW (Unter Null side-project)

'Abuse by Proxy' is the long awaited debut release from UNTER NULL mastermind Erica Dunham's side-project, Stray. Where her main project is based around harsher industrial electronics, this project features a much more subtle approach. While the beats, synths and effects are still there, they are utilized with a much more melancholic and contemplative direction. The end result is melodic and uplifting while retaining a sense of longing and emotional catharsis. The album shifts between EBM tinged songs to almost trip-hop style tunes, and boasts clean vocals in contrast to the harder approach of Unter Null. A hugely satisfying album that will find favour with any fan of intelligent EBM and melodic Industrial, this is anther great achievement from a rising star of the electronic scene.
